Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

Teen Volunteer Nights
The library's monthly teen volunteer night is held on the first Thursday of each month from 6-8pm. Teens in grades 6-12 can sign up for these volunteer nights, where you’ll be helping us with basic tasks such as cutting items for storytime prep, straightening shelves, etc. Space is limited to 6 teens per session. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Registration is online & opens on the 1st day of the month for that month's session (for example, sign-up begins on January 1 for the January session, on February 1 for the February session, etc).

NEW! Cards for Kids & Seniors
Cards for Kids & Seniors is held on the second Thursday of each month from 6-8pm. Spread some smiles & get service hours! Create handmade cards or letters to brighten someone's day. They'll be sent to Cards for Hospitalized Kids and Love for the Elderly charities. We'll give you tips on what to write, along with the supplies needed. For teens in grades 6 - 12. Space is limited to 20 teens per session. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Registration is online & opens on the 1st day of the month for that month's session (for example, sign-up begins on January 1 for the January session, on February 1 for the February session, etc).

Special Events Volunteers
Are you interested in volunteering for events at the Homer Library? We occasionally need teen volunteers to help with library programming or special events (Craft Fair, Author Fair, Community Expo, etc). Teens are welcome to fill out an online request form to be on
our volunteer list. Please note that teens are called from this list as needed, and so hours are not guaranteed.

Homer Library Volunteer Corps
In the meantime, if you are a teen who is looking to volunteer, we do offer ways to get service hours through the completion of an independent project. For more information, check out the Homer Library Volunteer Corps website.
