Quiet Reading Room
The Heroes Quiet Reading Room is a light filled space with study tables and a fireplace area with comfortable seating. Doors can be closed for a quiet atmosphere. The original art-work above the fireplace was designed by local artisan Sheri Law of Sheri Law Art Glass Studio in Homer Glen. In addition, a second piece showcases an artistic American flag.
We are proud to have established the Heroes Quiet Reading Room in memory of PFC Michael ”Mikey” C. Olivieri and all military personnel who serve our country. PFC. Michael C. Olivieri / U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, KS, passed away as a result of insurgent fire in Iraq on June 6, 2011.
The Homer Township Public Library District appreciates all community contributions to this room, honoring our brave military personnel who serve our country. This lifetime tribute will serve the Homer community well into the future and remind us all of the courage and sacrifice military heroes make to ensure our many democratic freedoms.
