Event Details
This Boat America course presents a wide variety of information including:
- General information concerning boats and maintenance
- Information to make your boating experience safe and more comfortable
- Tips on how to be a more courteous boat operator
- Laws and Regulations to which you must adhere to
- The course is comprised of six chapters: know your boat; before you get underway; operating your boat safely; the legal requirements of boating; boating emergencies and what to do; enjoying water sports with your boat.
In general, this information applies to all vessels (powerboats, personal watercraft, and manually driven boats such as sailboats, canoes, etc). However, in some places, information may apply specifically to personal watercraft.
Upon successful attendance and a proctored examination of the course contents you will receive a certificate from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. You may also take the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) test and based on your results apply for a certification from the IDNR.

Registration required. Space is limited to 15 people. Lunch will not be provided, so please bring a lunch with you (you may use the refrigerator in the meeting room to store cold items).
