1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge (Birth-PreK)
Introduce your beginning reader to books and the library! Read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters kindergarten. Small prizes are given throughout your child’s reading journey to encourage them to get to 1,000 books! Registration is open year-round. To sign up, visit the Youth Services department!
Reading is an Adventure Challenge (grades K-2)
Kids in Kindergarten through 2nd grade are encouraged to make reading an adventure! Whether they are reading alone or being read to, the goal is to finish 400 books. Small prizes are given throughout your child’s reading journey to encourage them to get to 400 books! Registration is open year-round. To sign up, visit the Youth Services department!
Reading Rocks Chapter Books Challenge (grades 3-6)
We all know reading rocks! We’re challenging kids in 3rd through 6th grade to read 100 chapter books. Whether they are reading alone or being read to, everything counts toward their goal. Registration is open year-round. To sign up, visit the Youth Services department!
Summer Reading Program
Earn chances to win one of over 25 prize baskets through our Summer Reading Program. Readers of all ages can participate in this fun reading challenge!
Youth Fall Reading Challenge: Book Haunt!
This Youth reading program is typically held in October.
It’s so easy to do, it’s spooky! Spend 15 minutes reading or listening to your favorite books. Put a sticker in a room on your Book Haunt sheet. Return your sheet to the library. You will get a frightfully fun reward and entry in the Halloween prize drawing! For kids of all ages; one reward per child while supplies last.
