Order some Lou Malnati’s or Garrett’s Popcorn, and pull up a chair for some Chicago food history and nostalgia! Hillary Marzec of Inside Chicago Walking Tours brings guests on a virtual tour of the most classic “Chicago foods” like deep-dish pizza, Chicago hot dogs, and Italian beef, teaching guests about the history of all these tasty treats and using historic photos to give a real appreciation for places like Portillo’s, Pizzeria Uno, and much more. Did you know that the brownie was invented in Chicago? Did you ever cruise North Avenue looking for the perfect Italian beef sandwich, or have a $0.15 tamale from a corner vendor in the 1950s? Let’s take a virtual trip to entice our tastebuds and celebrate some of Chicago’s classic foods and their histories!
