April is National Poetry Month, celebrating the joy, expressiveness, and pure delight of poetry. Check out the Children's Poet Laureate websites for lots of fun activities, experience some some great read alouds and animated poems for kids. Print the attached activity sheets for more poetry fun. Each day holds new, interesting poetry pleasures.

The U.S. Children's Poet Laureate is a position and award that was established by the Poetry Foundation in 2006. Kenn Nesbitt was the fourth Children's Poet Laureate from 2011-2012.

Visit Kenn Nesbitt's website. Check out a funny, new poem called Were Running Out of Toilet Paper!

Read Aloud: MY HAMSTER HAS A SKATEBOARD by Kenn Nesbitt. Also, check out Hoopla and Tumble Book Library on the Library's website for other poetry books to enjoy.

Video: WAYNE THE STEGOSAURUS by Kenn Nesbitt.

Poetry activity: You can play with poetry magnets to create your own poems, online! This clever site gives you new words every time, so there are always fresh new ideas to explore.

Visit the library website calendar for more Poetry Pleasures each day this week.
