Who hasn't heard of the dog whisperer or the horse whisperer, but the soil whisperers? The Dust Bowl of the 1930's enveloped the mid section of the United States with devastation. From birth two men studied the relationship of plants to soil. Their opportunity to relay their knowledge came on the heels of the Black Blizzards of the Oklahoma panhandle. With great perseverance, Hugh Bennett and Henry Finnell taught the beleaguered farmers how to grow crops again. On the southeast side of the country, depleted soil refused to bear harvests. George Washington Carver sets out to heal the soil. These three men brought green plants back to near desert areas with a few techniques that farmers use today.
