The Lemont Artists Guild presents Artist Kristin Peterson, who will give a presentation on Art Journal Making. Kristin is a third generation artist, originally from South Dakota. She is always exploring and expanding the creative depths of journal making. She is passionate about vintage collage and mixed media. Kristin loves color and things that have a love-worn comfortable feeling. Her journals contain a vibrance mixed with a little funk, and sprinkled with sensibility. Visit her website at www.alteredstatesstudio.com.

Kristin Peterson grew up in a creative home and had the privilege of doing anything that was artistic. Painting, clay, sewing.... When she was younger, the thought of being a professional artist had the stigma of a "starving artist" and so she took a "safer" route and has a medical background working in a hospital setting for almost 30 years.   She remained interested in anything creative and fell in love with scrapbooking and card making, which sparked the artsy interest again for her. Once she moved to Minnesota in May of 2000, and was closer to her mom and gramma, she started attending week-long painting classes with the two of them. Her art career has simply grown from there. She continues to try and take one class a year from a skilled artist to push her own knowledge, skill level, and comfort zone. She has used art journaling as a way to hone her artistic skills and to practice using and mixing products to see how things react together before moving to canvas or paper. She has been teaching mostly in-person classes for about 8 years; until this last year when she was pushed to learn the online format and tackle technology. Without this change, she would still be avoiding pulling together online classes, but having this option has been well received and has allowed people that wouldn't otherwise be able to attend an in-person class to have some choices.

Join us for the monthly meeting of the Lemont Artists Guild! Meetings are open to all; you do not have to be a LAG member to attend. For more information on the Lemont Artists Guild, click here.
