International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a fun holiday held annually on the 19th of September. It was first celebrated in 1995 and encourages people young and old to talk and dress like the sea plunderers of yesteryears. Come on a journey and discover facts and stories that will entertain and teach you all about the life of a pirate. Did you know, Ahoy Matey means "hello good friend" or Aye! which means "why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."

READ ALOUD: Captain LaPlank, The Perfect Pirate by Flibber T. Gibbet. Also, check out Hoopla and Tumble Book Library on the library’s website for other books to enjoy.
