Motivate kids to move on a hot day with these easy, inexpensive water play ideas for your backyard or park. They are suitable for a broad range of ages and simpler than packing everyone up for a trip to the pool (but don’t forget the sunscreen either way).

READ ALOUD: The Crocodile Who Didn’t Like Water by Gemma Merino. Also, check out Hoopla and Tumble Book Library on the Library's website for other books to enjoy.

ACTIVITY: Equip kids with a few buckets of water and some large paintbrushes or rollers and let them "paint" your fence, porch, playset, driveway, sidewalk, or garage. They can even play tic-tac-toe.

COLORING SHEET: Print the attachment and decorate with crayons, paint, stickers or whatever inspires you!

Visit the library website calendar for more activities this week.
