Spring is in full swing. Summer is round the corner! The weather is warmer and warmer. All nature is bursting with greenery and lots of amazing colors. Time to get out in the sun for fresh air and to get dirty in the garden. Tending to your own garden is very rewarding. You can plant flowers and/or vegetables. So come along with us on a gardening journey this week!

Read Aloud: Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner. Also, check out Hoopla and Tumble Book Library on the Library's website for other books to enjoy.

Video: Little Animals in the Garden. A lot of small animals are living in the garden. You can watch many insects but also frogs, snakes, snails, earthworms and toads who find hideouts and food.

Activity: Go on a hunting trip in your garden or backyard. Find as many animals (bunnies, squirrels, birds), insects on plants, on the ground, in the soil, under leaves and rocks as you can. Watch them at work from up close or afar. How many different bugs did you find? Can you spot a bird making a nest? Bees drinking nectar from flowers? A hummingbird zooming around flowers? Observe nature throughout the year. You will learn a lot!

Coloring page: Print and decorate the Bugs in the Garden coloring sheet with crayons, markers, stickers or whatever inspires you! Guess what vegetables are in that garden!
